Alice, sweet (not), delicate (not), stubborn (yes!), dear Alice in Wonderland. You keep inspiring me! your quest? I’ve decided to paint it my way. The absurd world of Alice is mine here, a world where Alice is pissed off with all the weird creatures. Painting glamour is pleasant, painting glamour *only* is boring to death. Now when you had spices, unconventional elements (blood, death, unexpected sex), the glamour touch suddenly get more intense. In my opinion at least.
What I really wanted to paint here, was the brochette with the rabbit ears, that was the lil thing I had in mind that pushed me to make these 2 paintings. The rest was like obvious, Alice, greedy as the original Alice, the Queen, cruel enough to get what she wanted from the mad hatter. The Cheshire cat, laughing, caught in a cake, ready to be devoured like the others. Alice and the Queen, partner in crimes, or pleasure, or both.

Alice in Wonderland, how could I not be inspired… So far working on it was boring to me, I did not want to make any kind of tasteless caricature. And suddenly, a few days ago, my Alice was born (in my mind). A psychopath Alice who prefers to create her own world, being the master of it, a Alice pissed with all the lil creatures in wonderland. She is actually not far from the original innocent one. Except that she thinks it’s fun to play with a butcher’s tool. She probably killed the white rabbit while shouting a “time out” ;-)… This rabbit’s so boring anyway! My Cheshire cat is different, starving, yet smiling in death, probably another victim of the lovely one. The erotic touch comes from the Queen of Hearts, she’s the one who’ll rip your heart out. She’s in control, or so she thinks… But Alice is not far, both an accomplice and a threat. Oh, andnd the Mad Hatter! He’s not too far from the original, just more weird maybe? I inspired myself from the crazy Alex from Clockwork Orange (the eye, the braces, the attitude).
I used a lot of ink, it was like obvious to me. It gives some work to discover all the details. I like that!

here’s my new collage made of 4 different boards (see all the details in posts below). What a work, from the basic idea to the final touch of varnish! I wanted to make another vampire scene. I wanted religion (representing the real vampires), I wanted free sex (all the vampire sharing similar pleasure all together), I wanted to represent religious guilt (painful or lifeless faces of some vampires). I wanted hope: you get one here free from guilt, who devours flesh and suck blood, the Lion. I’m part of the vampires (always dreamt of sucking blood with a straw ;-), but the lion is standing there with me, not judging. I love that Lion! :) … Then, you have this angel, bored to death with our human preoccupations. You have the stag and the woman below, a wink to mythology, Arthur, Adam, Eve. I realise the man here has again a strong representation (yeah a stag, not bad!)! You have an apple below, reminding Adam and Eve. You have the dogs on the other side, the violence of the religion, judging, commanding, imposing its laws (look at the guardian angels on the sides, guarding you with their weapons). And you have Mary and Jesus both amused to get such fine results from human nature. I stop the explanations, it’s a no ending story! lol

Beauty could be that sexy woman, the Beast.. that snake or Lion. That would be kinda boring, I agree. The Beauty here is the freedom Eve has reached when leaving the *holy garden*. The Beast, that God who’s condemned Eve to suffering. God punished the woman who refused to OBEY : her happiness shall depend on her man, she will give birth in pain etc etc. That makes of that God pretty much a beast (to be quite polite), with a domination hand full of anger and vengeance.
Eve will keep wearing proudly her broken chains as the most beautiful jewel.
Eve is kinda passive here, she’s resting, refusing the fear. Her companions will keep an eye around.
The snake, the lion, the rabbit… 3 symbols in which I see the Man. Strength, tenderness, action, intelligence, desire, courage (and I think I’ve just made your day ;-)

The title refers to the Halloween’ s “trick or treat” lil song. I always celebrate it with my watercolours, so there you go. There’s something from Captain Harlock in it (as usual!) and also from the good the bad the ugly. Well they’re not the ugly ones, not the good either! hehe. Are the girls waiting for candies? Hm, not so sure. I wouldn’t enjoy having them behind my door, I think. They could be simply the serial killer type (specially the Blond, she’s nothing of an angel! … She’s blond anyway!). I think they’re looking for something serious, gold, sex, the holy Grail. You choose :)

La grande bouffe. Remember the Italian movie? Decadent, crazy. When I started this work, I wasn’t in such an extreme mood, yet I really wanted to express *sexuality* on the canvas. Food & sex, both concepts can’t be separated. The title was like obvious to me. A much more serious topic than politics, for once :) So there you go, a woman and a man ready for their respective meals. There will be some fight, of course, because they’re hungry. And ok, they love to play! The Lion man is strong (some mythology here, a kind of superhuman, strong. Could be Ares!), but the woman gets her own weapons. Of course the apple (Eve, where are you? ;-). The apple, poisonous or not? It does not matter. The lion will bite it, he’ll take the risk. Taking the risk to live at 200%. Ok, I get a very basic vision of sex. (shrugging). I let the subtle part to others. :-)
